One of Hikvision's top priorities as a company is to operate in a greener, more sustainable way, and to protect the environment for future generations. To do this, we are innovating our products to save energy and reduce waste, while also moving towards greener design and manufacturing processes and minimizing the carbon footprint of our office parks and other locations.
Hikvision's environmental commitment starts with developing business with energy efficient products that contribute to a greener manufacturing process and a greener footprint. On top of this, we strive constantly to reduce our carbon footprint at every stage of product design, development and manufacturing processes – helping to minimize waste and other negative environmental impacts.
Our policies and practices for minimizing carbon emissions and building a greener business are built on a number of key pillars.
1) Greener technologies & products
To support our environmental objectives, Hikvision is developing green innovative technologies and performing sustainable business practices that help protect ecosystems and the environment. From the get-go, our skilled engineering teams consider different ways to optimize product designs, constantly seeking a balance between performance, durability, and – crucially – energy efficiency.
Key green product innovations include our Solar-powered Security Cameras, which use approximately 80 kWh less electricity per year than standard cameras, and our Ultra Series Network Cameras, which power down during quiet times to deliver significant energy savings. These advancements reflect our commitment to green manufacturing and contribute to reducing our carbon footprint as a responsible green business.

2) Greener manufacturing
Hikvision is committed to sustainable business practices, introducing cleaner, greener manufacturing processes, helping us to improve energy utilization, promote water conservation and recycling, reduce pollution and regulate chemicals management.
We are also working hard to minimize the environmental impact of our packaging materials. This includes measures to de-plasticize and reduce packaging materials, promote degradable materials, and increase packaging recycling efficiency.
For example, by cutting the use of plastic cushioning and replacing high-volume, high-quality plastic cushioning and lining with materials with low plastic content, we were able to reduce carbon emissions by 767 tons in 2022.

3) Greener office park operations
Hikvision is dedicated to operating as a green business. In our office parks, a new energy management system has reduced electricity consumption by 10%. This is thanks to intelligent devices equipped with optical character recognition (OCR) technology which automatically collect electricity-meter readings from various locations. The data is then aggregated into an energy management system to inform and refine our energy-saving measures.
Furthermore, we have prioritized green technology in our infrastructure upgrades, including the servers used by our R&D facilities. By boosting operating efficiency, and reducing the carbon footprint of physical servers, this project is expected to cut electricity consumption by nearly 5,000 MWh and carbon emissions by nearly 4,000 tons per year.
