System integrator: LEDBOX Company

Screen size: 13.05 m² across three displays

BFM Marseille, one of BFM TV's regional broadcast studios in France, modernized its TV set with Hikvision LED displays. Featuring a 1.2 mm pixel pitch and curved, bezel-free design, the new installation delivers clearer visuals, greater immersion, and a premium on-air experience for presenters and viewers alike.

Refreshing a regional TV studio for the next decade

BFM Marseille is one of around ten regional studios operated by BFM TV across France. Known for its engaging programs like Bonjour Marseille and Les longs formats des locales de Marseille, the station delivers news throughout the day to audiences across southern France. Like other studios in the network, it undergoes a complete redesign about every ten years—an opportunity to refresh the on-air look while aligning with modern production practices. For this latest transformation, the team sought a backdrop that would perform flawlessly on camera from every angle, accommodate diverse content formats, and integrate seamlessly with the new set architecture. Advances in LED technology made flexible fine-pitch displays a natural choice.

The solution: flexible curved LED displays create an immersive broadcast set

With the help of the system integrator LEDBOX Company, the studio has selected Hikvision’s flexible indoor LED modules (DS-D41Q12CA-1GS). With a 1.2 mm pixel pitch and the GOB (Glue on Board) technology, the panels are optimized for close-range viewing—crucial in a studio where presenters sit only about one meter from the screen. Three curved displays were installed behind the desk, forming a continuous arc that surrounds the presenters. Two measure 3.25 × 1.44 meters and one 2.56 × 1.44 meters. Flexible, magnetic modules conform precisely to custom cabinets, creating a smooth, bezel-free surface that follows the set designer’s intended curvature. Producers can display a single panoramic image across the entire arc or divide the screens into segments to match different program sequences.

Benefits: Clearer visuals, greater immersion, better TV broadcasting

The result is a polished, high-impact visual environment that enhances both storytelling and viewer engagement. Graphics, maps, and data now appear clearer in close-ups and wide shots alike, while the curved backdrop adds depth and consistency across multiple cameras. Journalist presenter Sopheie Hébrard notes the improved on-air clarity: “Since the new installations, everything appears much clearer and more precise. With just a glance, I can spot a detail or read a number instantly.” Another presenter, Stéphane Maggiolini, adds, “The curved screen actually helps us feel at the very heart of this set, unlike before. Now, we’re truly immersed in the visuals displayed, which helps create the right atmosphere.” Equipment Manager Olivier Pons also highlights the broader impact: “The set makes a strong impression on visitors. It’s not only beneficial technically, but also enjoyable for journalists working here every day, as well as for guests.”

More than a technical upgrade, the project represents a confident evolution of the channel’s identity, delivering a premium studio experience that feels both fresh and familiar. By blending advanced LED display technology with thoughtful design, the new set positions the station to captivate audiences for the decade ahead.
